Tips on Productivity - How to Achieve Your Goal of Making Money Online
May 28, 2008 – 3:13 amWhen it comes to making money online, productivity is a key factor that can determine how much money you can make every week or month. If you’re trying to make money blogging, the quality of your output and it’s frequency is rather important because it can affect how fast you build a audience base or have the ability to monetize your blog.
Even if you’re purely interested in websites which pay you to complete offers, you’ll also require some level of intense dedication towards the nitty gritty work of filling in surveys, making trial purchases or tracking incoming payments.
I was recently tagged by Daniel Scocco and Doris Chua for a group writing project about productivity. Titled the Ultimate Guide to Productivity and originated by Ben Yoskovitz, the aim of this project was to share tips about how to be more productive in one’s personal or work life.
When it comes to making money from the web, I always use three main principles, which allow me to keep my level of productivity and earning potential high.
Diversify Your Projects and Focus
First of all, I like to have a list of money making projects that will allow me to diversify my focus and income. Sometimes I feel that I get easily burnt out if I work too much on one project, which might not even pay off as much as I expected.
Keeping a manageable number of projects at hand allows you to stay fresh and active. When I don’t want to work on my blogs, I’ll just switch over to my affiliate websites and do something else.
For example, I’m recently a little tired of writing and have been thinking of trying another medium altogether, especially when it seems so very easy to make money with a video blog. Having a portfolio of projects in rotation keeps me active and on my toes.
Collaborate with Other Like-Minded Individuals
I love working with people on joint projects because the burden of the workload is shared with others. Working on joint online businesses and websites and interacting with others increases your appetite for the project. Not to mention that you’ll usually learn a lot from others.
I’ve enjoyed doing collaborations with other webmasters, particularly if they are very dedicated to the goal of making money. Finding and working with someone that is knowledgeable and passionate naturally injects productivity into your system.
Delegate Work to Save Yourself Time and Energy
There is definitely a limit to the number of things you can do everyday and it is important to note that not everyone can do certain things as well as you. Learning how to delegate tasks ensures that your productivity stays high.
Planning your blog or business’s long term goal and marketing it to very important people is something that is best done by yourself personally. This is not something you want to leave to a hired hand unless there is a high level of trust for the specific individual.
Let’s take another example. If I were to change the Wordpress theme for Dosh Dosh now, I certainly wouldn’t spend time tweaking another template to suit my liking. I haven’t got the time to do so and I’ll rather spend some money on a good designer and leave the headache and creative work to someone else.
If I’m starting niche websites to make money off Adsense, I probably wouldn’t spend time to manually update each blog daily. What I’ll do is, I’ll probably pick a suitable Adsense Wordpress template, come up with a list of keywords and hire a blogger/writer to publish content daily.
In a sense, this is what revenue sharing websites are all about. A social website gives you a percentage of their ad earnings and in return, you contribute content which allows them to attract more visitors and search traffic. This is just a more subtle and indirect form of delegation.
By assigning work to other people, it saves you time and enables you to diversify and grow all your money making ventures.
